What are the Pickett British Cornet mouthpieces?

Edited

In addition to offering cornet backbores that couple with a number of the Pickett mouthpiece tops, we also offer 1 piece cornet mouthpiece models, include the most popular British Cornet Series.

The British series was designed to extend the warmth and cornet sound further than the standard Pickett tops offer.  This deeper V cup matched to a larger throat makes for a delightfully warm cornet sound.  Given the larger internal volume, the overall length is shorter to accommodate the intonation change.  And the 0.345" end diameter shank provides a touch more slotting.

We make a series of British cornet mouthpieces, so players can find the sound that works better for them and their instrument:

  • Standard:  This model has deep, V shaped cup flowing into a #16 throat.

  • Medium Shallow (MS): We brought the bottom of the cup up slightly to add some front end compression, although still with a #16 throat

  • Shallow (S): Moving the cup more into a C cup shape, but maintaining some depth and volume, along with a smaller #19 throat, this model provides additional efficiency and more color to the sound.

  • Very Shallow (VS): A shallower cornet mouthpiece, but still deeper than the standard Pickett B trumpet cup, with a #24 throat, and still with a V shaped cup brings the most resistance to the player of this series.
